The Last of Us: Game of the Edition has been announced for the PS3 in Europe. The new edition packs together the original game and all the DLC that’s been released.
Prepare yourselves for the third release of one of the best games to come to the PlayStation family of consoles. Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us is re-releasing on the PS3 next month in a Game of the Year variation, and it’ll package together everything you expect it to.
The Last of Us: Game of the Year Edition will, of course, bring back the original game in all of its glory, in addition to all of the major DLC that’s been released since the game debuted last year. If for some reason you’ve yet to play all the way through Naughty Dog’s post-apocalyptic adventure on either PS3 or PS4, this new release is aimed right at you. A GOTY version probably won’t come to the PS4, however, since The Last of Us Remastered, which released in July, already includes all of the DLC and improved graphics (because, yes, the game was capable of looking better).
As of right now, the GOTY edition has only been announced for Europe, but expect it to also release in North America as well, so don’t panic or anything. In Europe, the game will retail for €39.99, and we can probably guess that it’ll also come to NA in the $40 range. For a little perspective, The Last of Us Remastered currently sells for $42 on Amazon, and $49.99 on the PlayStation Store, where it is a 40GB download.

Is anyone out there tempted to double dip on the PlayStation 3 version of The Last of Us? If anything, it seems like this new release is meant to fill the small gap left between the original game’s release and its definitive PS4 counterpart. For some, it may be best to simply hold out until they jump to the PS4, then pick up the remastered version. By then, it’ll probably drop in price a bit.
The Last of Us: Game of the Year Edition is set to release on November 11, 2014 in Europe. While unannounced for other territories as of the writing of this story, you can bet we’ll let you know if Naughty Dog or Sony announces anything else.
