A page advertising the standalone version of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered has popped up on the official PlayStation website.
At the time of writing, the only way to obtain the remastered version of the PS4 game is to buy Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition. But now it has its own listing on the PlayStation website, fans are now speculating that it might be teasing an imminent standalone release, particularly as there’s no mention in the page’s small print that you can only play it if you buy Sony exclusive, Miles Morales Ultimate Edition.
Of course, it’s possible this is merely a mistake and right now, and it doesn’t seem as though players can purchase the Remastered version without Miles Morales. We’ve reached out to Sony for confirmation either way – watch this space.
In case you missed it, Insomniac Games recently deployed an update that adds Performance RT mode to Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered. Update 1.002’s new mode offers an alternate version of the 60 frames per second (fps) Performance mode, and adds ray-tracing by adjusting “the scene resolution, reflection quality, and pedestrian density”.
It joins existing modes Fidelity, which offers ray-traced effects at 4K/30fps, and Performance, which focuses on 60fps at the cost of ray-tracing.
When news broke that players wouldn’t be able to import their save data from the original game, Insomniac promptly responded to complaints by promising it would work to get the update to players “around Thanksgiving”. However, the feature became available a few days ahead of schedule.
