Gungrave G.O.R.E Comes Back From the Dead With a New Cinematic Trailer – COGconnected

Some gaming franchises are taken from us too early. Others are just biding their time. After lying dormant for a while, it seems like Gungrave is coming roaring back to life with the delayed title Gungrave G.O.R.E being shown off at Gamescom 2021.
For those of you who aren’t informed on stylish action third-person shooters from the early 2000s–or the Gungrave VR game, we guess–Gungrave is a twisted story of crime, revenge, and techno-engineered gunslinging zombies. Yeah, it’s that kind of game. You play as Beyond The Grave, a towering force of undead destruction crafted from the corpse of a mafia hitman betrayed by his best friend, and must tear your way through the crime syndicate you used to work for before your body begins to decay.

If that sounds weird, over-the-top, and kind of creepily awesome, then you’ll probably enjoy what we’ve seen so far of Gungrave G.O.R.E. While there isn’t a lot of information available on the game’s plot just yet, this surprisingly tense cinematic sequence joins the other trailers in establishing a very distinct tone for the upcoming game.
This latest trailer shows what seem to be a group of heavily-armed gangsters in a harbor while someone–presumably Mika Asagi, the girl that Grave is programmed to protect–summons Grave’s coffin from a distance. Said coffin immediately comes flying in, squashing one of the gangsters on arrival and unleashing a very angry zombie on the rest.

While we only see Grave kill one other man intentionally by breaking his neck mid-leap, the trailer ends with Grave raising his weapons and the sound of gunfire. Between this and the gameplay footage that has been shared in previous trailers, it appears that Gungrave G.O.R.E will be dedicated to making the player feel like a truly unstoppable force. Fitting for a series where you play as a rampaging techno-zombie.
Bunji Kugashira, Grave’s apprentice-turned-fellow-techno-zombie, does not make an appearance in this new trailer. Given how big a role he played in the aptly-named Reunion Trailer and his established desire to be the one who puts Grave back in the ground, we suspect we’ll be seeing more of him in future trailers.

Gungrave G.O.R.E will be available for PS4 and PS5 in 2022.
