Cricket 19 by Big Ant Studios has been the only cricket game on the PC and Consoles since the last few years. While the game still caters just fine to cricket fans, Big Ant Studios have now announced a sequel. It’s called Cricket 22 and there are a several new features as well as graphics upgrades over the older game. And, you can already start pre-ordering it now.
Cricket 22 is coming to PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo over the next few months, with the PC and Console versions releasing on November 25. Switch users will have to wait for January 22 to get hands on their version. The gameplay dynamics have been broadly improved and so is the graphics quality, which is now adapted for next-gen consoles with features like real-time ray tracing baked in.
The biggest changes come to the performance, with Big Ant Studios claiming that the loading times have been slashed by a big margin. On the next-gen consoles, players can expect quick loading times and smoother gameplay. The graphics will see ray tracing and from the early screenshots, it looks certainly better.
While the batting controls remain unchanged from Cricket 19, the developers have worked on improving the bowling and fielding controls, which are claimed to be “tight and more refined”. Similar to the other sports games like FIFA, F1, and others, Cricket 22 also gets a story-driven career mode, complete with press interviews, managing training, looking after injuries, and more.
“Cricket fans will be able to enjoy Australia’s Big Bash T20 competition, the hugely innovative The Hundred in England, the tropical party of the CPL in the Caribbean, and take to the international field of battle with fully-licensed teams from Australia, England, The West Indies, New Zealand and Ireland,” said Big Ant Studios.
There’s women cricket too along with an all women commentary system. Commentary for the men’s cricket mode will rely on voices from Michael Atherton, Ian Healy, Mel Jones, Alison Mitchell and David Gower. “Every shot will be called with greater depth and analysis than ever before,” says the studio.
The nets practicing mode is here now and those pre-ordering the game can already start trying it out. Those buying it on the old-gen consoles, like Xbox One series and PS4 series, will get free upgrades to the current-gen console versions.
