Play as a general in North Africa or the Italian peninsula, and conduct a military campaign to free this area from enemy control. The Mediterranean offers a unique theater of war, featuring desperate battles in the confines of Italian mountain trails, blistering North African deserts, and once-idyllic coastal locations shattered by heavy armor and artillery fire.
Go all out with your strategic options. Build up your supply lines to maintain the offensive, then set up a rear guard to protect it. Use artillery or conduct air bombings to soften enemy positions before moving in with your tanks and infantry. Create a spy network in settlements to reinforce your campaign. Flank enemy armor to expose their weak points to your anti-tank weapons. Apply breaching tactics to flush enemy infantry from their hiding places. Gain access to higher ground to obtain better line of sight, shoot further, and maintain a battlefield advantage.
Note that your terrain determines what your strategy should be—there is "no one size fits all" in war. Italy’s confined mountain passes, with plenty of obstacles to block one’s line of sight, require a different approach than the wide-open North African deserts. You will need to employ reconnaissance to gain an understanding of your environment before planning your attack.
Play with four factions and international Battlegroups: the US Army, the British Forces, the Wehrmacht, and the Deutsch Afrikakorps. You also get the opportunity to call on help from a wide variety of elite troops. Fight alongside the Canadian Special Service Forces, the Commonwealth Gurkhas, Italian partisans, and many more.
Even better, you get your choice of military vehicles from the game’s expanded roster. You get additional vehicles like the fast-moving Weasel, the long-range Nashorn, and the Chaffee Light Tank.
